ISO 5658-2 fire protection and ISO 5659-2 smoke toxicity test for marine materials
The materials used in ships and oil tankers should meet the requirements of IMO FTP code Part 5 and Part 2 fire retardant performance and smoke toxicity test. The low spreading flame test of IMO FTP code Part 5 is conducted according to ISO 5658-2 standard, and the smoke toxicity test of IMO FTP code Part 5 is conducted according to en iso5659-2 standard. Marine materials ISO 5658-2-imo the necessity of low flame spreading performance requirements for marine materials
As a mobile building on the sea and inland river, the fire safety requirements of ships are very high, so it is necessary to make unified requirements for the safety performance of the operating ships. In order to protect life and property at sea, IMO resolution msc.307 (88) stipulates that the surface materials of ships must meet the requirements of IMO Part 5 surface flammability test.
ISO 5658-2-imo test and evaluation of low flame spreading performance of marine materials
1. Surface flammability test - the average surface flammability of all materials meets the values listed in Table 1 of IMO Part 5.
2. Combustion droplet test - materials used as dressings for bulkheads, walls, linings, ceilings and decks shall not produce combustion droplets during the test. Regardless of the surface flammability test, those producing burning droplets shall be considered as unqualified materials. For floor coverings, no more than 10 burning droplets are acceptable.
Smoke toxicity test of marine materials ISO 5659-2-IMO code Part 2
Test method: the test time is 10 minutes, and the smoke density and gas content are recorded. The samples were exposed to 25 or (50) kW / m2 radiant heat source for testing. The toxicity was analyzed by CO2, Co, HF, HCI, HCN, NO2, SO2 and HBr
ISO 5659-2 IMO code Part 2 smoke density classification standard for ship materials
Average value (DM) of maximum specific optical density (DS) of flue gas
1. The surface material used for bulkhead, liner or ceiling, in any test state, DM ≤ 200
2. For deck covering material, DM ≤ 400 under any test condition
3. The material used for floor surface, in any test state, DM ≤ 500
4. For plastic pipe and cable, DM ≤ 400 under any test state
